Though we may be spared the mountains of snow and perilous black ice that plague other countries during the cold season, we still need to ensure that our investment properties are prepared to see out the worst that winter can throw at them.

Don't wait – insulate!

Be sure to replace cracked or broken tiles, and pay particular attention to your guttering. Winter windows

Some 40 per cent of a home's heat energy can escape via the windows, states the Department of Industry and Science, and the best way to keep that precious heat inside is by fitting double-glazing. These days, double-glazed windows are an inexpensive, efficient option, especially when added to timber frames, as the wood does not conduct heat, keeping everyone snug!
